When you look at the 12 portraits taken by photographer Francis Kokoroko of lifers of the Nsawam Prison in Ghana, you see 12 strong, powerful women. What is even more powerful is the story behind those 12 portraits. They are the result of a collaborative and participatory multi-arts project: Remember Me was conceived by artist and stylist Rania Odaymat and photographer Francis Kokoroko, both members of the Accra-based Beyond Collective.

The Open Call for the 4th Catchupa Factory – New Photographers residency, taking place in Mindelo, Cabo Verde, has been launched. The deadline for application is 27 March 2019. The Catchupa Factory initiative is an educational and artistic creation program in the format of artist residency, dedicated to emerging artists and photographers from the Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP), Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé e Príncipe, Angola and Mozambique.

Eric Gyamfi was chosen as the winner of the thirteenth Foam Paul Huf Award. The award is presented annually by Foam to a photography talent under the age of 35. The jury selected Gyamfi out of 100 portfolios sent in from 24 countries. The prize consists of €20,000 and a solo exhibition at Foam. Additionally the work of the winner will be published in the next prestigious annual Talent Issue of Foam Magazine and be included in the internationally traveling group exhibition.
